Empty kitchen, full house

I have been a bit absent this last week.  It's been very busy and I just haven't had the energy to put stuff out here.

Monday I went and picked out flooring.  So here are some pictures of what I've got.

This is a small sample of the flooring.  Note:  it only looks like tile.  No grout for me!

On Tuesday I had to work late, and ended up getting a migraine.  I completely forgot to call and order the floor!  Wednesday I also had to work late.  Yesterday was just a normal work day.  Which brings us to today.

I have the day off because of the two longer days earlier this week.  They start demolition on Monday, so I had to move a bunch of the bigger, heavier stuff today.  My house now looks like an episode of Hoarders.

So, I'll be living in a pretty chaotic home for a while.  I will take pictures each day, but might not always get them posted right away.

I'm dreading the chaos, but excited for the outcome.

Emptying a Kitchen

They'll be starting tear down the end of this week.  So I'm trying to empty out my kitchen.  I did do a few cabinets ahead of time, but left the cabinets with dishes and food until the end.  After getting the dishes out I realized there was no way I could do this without boxes.  So off I went to the liquor store--the best box source around....

Looks like I've gone on a major vodka binge...LOL

I'm not finished yet.  But my spare room is filling up.

I have a dishwasher full of dishes, and all the food left, then I'll only have larger things left.  Don't know where those will go....

I go pick out a floor on Monday!

Wanted: A Floor Plan

My contractor, Bob, called on Friday and left me a message.  I didn't get home until late, so wasn't able to follow up yet.

He wants me to go check out floors!  I'm going to call him tomorrow and ask for samples of my counter and cabinet wood to take while looking at floors.  Then I'll be shopping at some point after school this week.  I'm thinking my earliest chance might be Thursday unless the flooring place is open later than 5:00.

Other loose ends I need to tie up (I'm putting this here more for me than anyone else):
light fixture(s)
faucet choices
empty more cabinets
move computer desk and printer desk who-knows-where.

So there's an update.

I emptied my first cabinet

I decided rather than being in a panicked rush when they finally have my cabinets ready to go in, I'm going to try and empty a cabinet every day or so.  Today I emptied my pots and pans.  Here's the proof.

My guest room bed which is about to become home to my dishes for a while.

I'm not looking forward to have everything scattered, but it will be SO nice to have a kitchen that functions well.  :)
